Exclusive: Jalen Rose Talks NBA Finals Predictions, Love For Hip-Hop & More

You may see his bright smile on ESPN and on ABC as he brings a refreshing swagger to the way he preps fans for the NBA’s most intriguing match-ups. You may remember him having a successful hoops career as he was a part of what some may consider as the most important college basketball team in NCAA history. But Jalen Rose is no stranger to the journey of hard work, dedication and innovating the sport of basketball on, and off, the court. Other than being a part of the historical “Fab Five” lineup at the University of Michigan, which transcends the way we watch basketball today, Jalen was one of the rare breed of tall combo guards in the early 1990’s-2000’s. Being a huge asset as a playmaker and clutch scorer during crunch time, he was able to garner the NBA’s Most Improved Award in which he averaged roughly 18.2 PPG for an Indiana Pacers squad which went on to play in the NBA Finals.

With power that can knock you into next year, speed faster than a Busta Rhymes rhyme scheme and a toughness that’s “built Ford tough”, Canelo Alvarez is living proof why he is regarded as the baddest fighter in the game today. The 26-year-old Mexican superstar is ranked as the #1 pound-for-pound fighter by BoxRec and the #8 overall fighter according to Ring Magazine. Canelo was able to score major career defining victories on boxing greats such as “Sugar” Shane Mosley, Kermit Cintron, Miguel Cotto and Amir Khan. In addition, he held the WBC light middleweight title from 2011-2013 and the WBA and Ring Magazine light middleweight titles from 2015 to 2016. After catching the industry’s ear with her cameo on Ja Rule‘s chart topper “Always On Time”, Ashanti was ready to grab the R&B game by the neck and put it in the chokehold…..in which she did. She was able to win the hearts of many fans worldwide thanks to her self-titled debut, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 with hits such as “Foolish”, “Baby” and “Happy”. The hits kept on coming as her sophomore album “Chapter II” went to reach platinum status after selling over 1.5 million copies. With major success like this, the Long Island native was able to continue to be a shining star amongst females the youth can look up to as her down-to-earth, charismatic, and selfless attributes were on display as she was able to collab with former first lady Michelle Obama in a campaign known as #DrinkUp in which she did a song for it called “Let Go”.

With all the huge accomplishments and accolades she achieved, what is next for the multi-talented superstar? Currently on tour, The Source Magazine was able to catch up with Ashanti to talk music, life after Murder Inc. and her upcoming album.
